Generating Solar Power
Energy investments are on the rise due to the depletion of natural resources from which energy is extracted. It is becoming increasingly tough to obtain oil from the wells which calls for the drilling of more such wells. As such there is shift towards the adoption of renewable sources of energy. One of the most reliable sources of renewable energy is the Sun itself. The energy that we receive from the sun cannot be compared to any artificial means of energy generation. It is believed that the amount of energy absorbed by earth’s oceans and landmasses in one hour is more than the total energy the world consumes in an entire year. This huge amount of energy needs to be adequately tapped. This can be done in two ways, using Solar Power Plant or by using PV or Photovoltaic Cells, also known as Solar Cells. In solar Power Plant, the solar radiations are deflected using mirrors, into a small space, say a pipe filled with a fluid. The rise in temperature of the fluid can be then used to boil water and produce steam for conventional generator. The Solar or PV cells are made up of silicon alloys hat absorb photons emitted from the sun. The photons hit the silicon atoms in the PV cells, transferring their energy and releasing the electrons from their orbit around the nucleus, thereby generating electricity. The Solar energy generated can be effectively converted into electricity. A reason why Solar Energy Investments hold tremendous promise for the investors, in the coming years.

Solar looks complex…but not if you have help.
Nuclear Power seems a very viable option to replace fossil fuels. But I think that Nuclear power poses a very real threat to our existence. What if the nuclear power plant falls into the hands of terrorists? Also how to dispose off the nuclear waste and what about proliferation secure and safe?Wind energy can not be used in the non-windy areas. The only other option seems to be solar which is abundant in almost every part of the world. If we can produce some really cheap solar cells that would solve the problem. Today solar power represents a small fraction of energy production in USA. Just imagine that installing solar panels and not having to pay energy bills . I am myself thinking about going the solar energy way.I visited a website FreeCleanSolar.com to get some information. This is a pretty good site to get started. Comments are invited

It's great that solar is more affordable then ever. As many here have suggested, it's always best to shop around and compare quotes. Plus there are differences in solar panel manufacturers, mounting and other equipment. It might not require as much research and planning as redoing a kitchen, but you should at least know what is going to be on your roof for the next 25 years. You can search and compare options at FreeCleanSolar.com . They have a directory of local solar panel installers representing most every solar panel brand including Sunpower, Kyocera, Sharp, Evergreen and Sunwize. You can also find information about state solar rebates, federal tax credits, solar financing and leasing, system costs and the benefits of going solar. The bottom line is that many homeowners and business owners can afford solar power today.

Energizing Lives
Wind power is the fastest growing energy source in the world. Even though the electricity production using wind energy is only 1% of the worldwide electricity use, investments in wind energy is growing rapidly. The energy produced from wind is increasing more than fivefold globally between 2000 and 2007. The wind energy production is expected to increase more than 21% per year. The industry has been growing at 28% a year for the past five years, and if growth trends continue at this pace as is expected, wind capacity will double about every three or four years. In wind turbines, the wind flows over the airfoil shaped blades of the turbine causing them to turn. The blades are connected to a drive shaft that turns an electric generator to produce electricity. Turbines used in wind farms for commercial production of electric power are usually three-bladed and pointed into the wind by computer-controlled motors. Many new technologies have come up that have decreased the cost of producing electricity from wind manifold.

AIG Execs return 50M of Bonuses
AIG Execs return 50M of their Bonuses only keeping 115M. 115 Million, I could live comfortably for the rest of my life on 1% of that 115M! With 2.5% of that 115M, in 2 years I could be producing 100k barrels of bio-diesel a year, but no, instead, our government in their infanent wisdom, gave that 115M to the money changers of AIG. This is my opinion, let us hear yours!

How to Start your own Green User Group!
HTML clipboard How to Start your own Green User Group!
Defined below is a 5-step process to start your own Green User Group. Your Green Zone has been successful in starting new user groups using this approach. We encourage you to ask questions of an Your Green Zone Board members or moderators if you need assistance.
Step 1: Determine the focus of the group.
Will it be biofuel, wind, solar etc.?
Will it be about development?
Experimenting?
Design?
Testing Ideas?
All of the above?
Some of the above?
Something else Green?
Step 2: Recruit like-minded people to form a steering committee. These can be:
Step 3: Will the group meet face-to-face? Or virtually? Or both?
For face-to-face meetings, local facilities need to be identified for hosting purposes (cost, location). Local hotels are always available, but can be expensive. Look for lower-cost alternatives; many companies will allow on-site meetings if arranged well ahead of time; many local restaurants (not chains) also have function rooms available
